Fields and trends:
Currently, the Faculty of Chemistry has 5 fields of inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and nanochemistry at the master's level, and accepts students in the fields of inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and organic chemistry at the doctoral level.
1- Inorganic chemistry trend:
Inorganic chemistry is related to all compounds whose primary skeleton does not consist of carbon. Chemistry of metals, non-metals, salts, acids, bases, coordination complexes of intermediary elements, the chemistry of halogens and noble gases, chain, ring, cage, cluster mineral compounds and mineral compounds in biological systems, inorganic polymers, and organic chemistry. Metal are a branch of this trend.
2- Analytical chemistry trend:
Analytical chemistry deals with the analysis, identification, and determination of constituents of organic and inorganic compounds. In the chemical industry, from refineries, petrochemical complexes, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, sanitary, fertilizer, poison and other factories. . . As far as biotechnological industries, the preparation of numerous samples from different stages of production and the final product, continuously analyzing and identifying them to ensure the accuracy of the production process and product standard, is the work of analytical chemists.
Investigating the causes of corrosion and ways to prevent it in different environments is also possible through chemical analysis methods.
It is possible to use electrochemical methods, chromatography, spectroscopy, and thermal analysis and measure very small amounts in the well-equipped research laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry.
3- Physical chemistry trend:
Physical chemistry studies reactions based on mathematical and physical principles from a thermodynamic and kinetic point of view and is considered one of the important topics in chemical, oil, polymer, metallurgy, textile, and paint engineering. Physical chemistry includes the application of the concepts and laws of physics and mathematics for a deep understanding of the basic concepts of chemistry, and it studies the properties and behavior of chemical systems with spectroscopic, electrochemical, thermodynamic, and quantum methods. This trend can be used industrially by evaluating materials in terms of magnetic and electrical properties, efficiency, production speed, and determining the mechanism of chemical reactions.
4- organic chemistry trend:
Organic chemistry is a branch of chemistry that investigates and studies carbon compounds and their reactions. Various materials such as medicines, vitamins, plastic, natural and synthetic fibers, pigments, paper and ink, gasoline, rubber tires, as well as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are considered among organic molecules. Determining the structure of organic compounds, studying and investigating their various reactions, and developing methods for the synthesis of organic compounds are among the tasks of organic chemists.
Different trends in organic chemistry are polymer, heterocycle, organometallic, natural and medicinal compounds, and environment.
Organic chemistry is also the foundation of biology and medicine. Apart from water, living things are mainly made of organic matter. Biology on a molecular scale is the same as organic chemistry.
5- Nano chemistry trend:
Nanotechnology is a transdisciplinary science. If we look at nanotechnology from the point of view of chemistry, we can say that the field of nanochemistry is used in almost all sciences and techniques. In other words, the benefits of this technology can be used in various fields such as: fuel, polymer, paint, construction, clothing, medicine, food, and generally everything related to chemistry and chemical engineering. In general, paying attention to all available sciences and technologies at the nano scale and work and production at this scale to achieve products with better quality and quantity, in other words, cheaper, stronger, lighter and more efficient. One of the characteristics of chemistry is knowledge of material science and material engineering, which is desired in pure sciences, study and research, and in engineering, mass production. From the point of view of chemists, the trends of this field can be the trends of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analysis and physical chemistry, which are studied and analyzed at the nano scale to present the results of their new findings to the relevant engineers for accumulation in a specific case. These trends can be categorized differently depending on the needs of the society and the ability to meet those needs. Graduates of this field will have the ability to carry out basic and applied research projects in the field of science and nanotechnology and can play a significant role in updating the technology level of various industries in the country and producing new nanotechnology products. Graduates of this field will be able to work in research centers and research and development units of public and private companies.
